Curawaka: Roots & Horizons

Two years after Curawaka’s incredible last appearance in Oslo, which coincided with the release of their outstanding second album Dreamtime, we are so excited to invite the band to return to Kulturkirken Jakob this October. Anyone who was in attendance on October 13th 2023 will understand the anticipation of their return!

Curawaka concerts are an almost indescribable experience. Extending up to three hours in length, the band perform music in a deeply ceremonial way. Reflective of the members mixed heritage and time spent immersed in different lands, the songs feature different languages and multiple traditional instruments native to each of their homelands. From highland flutes and soundlore of the Andes and sacred indigenous Amazonian chants to juicy world beats and mythical Nordic dreamweaving, Curawaka fuse rhythmic world music with astonishing passion in an incredible explosion of sound and culture. The band have also invited their dear friends and collaborators Koret Artemis to join them on some selected songs.

To witness them live is to become a part of a living musical prayer, to feel with your ears and your heart simultaneously and to become an invigorated and active participant in the message they live by. Always performing with the deepest respect and reverence, the band’s wish for a unified, tolerant and healthy planet and its people is apparent throughout. This is part concert, part ceremony, with so much energy, joy and celebration added to the mix. We can’t wait to welcome Curawaka and yourselves to Oslo’s beautiful Kulturkirken Jakob this Samhain, October 31st.
